Emily VanStelten

I am a counseling intern in the master's program at the University of St. Thomas. I am committed to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel respected, heard, and understood. My approach is rooted in empathy and collaboration, with a strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I believe meaningful growth occurs when clients feel supported in exploring their experiences, allowing them to move toward healing and deeper self-understanding.

I have a particular interest in working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, and relationship challenges. I am especially drawn to exploring how early experiences, attachment dynamics, and unresolved emotional wounds can influence current patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating to others.

In my free time, I enjoy practicing yoga, reading, and spending time outdoors. I deeply value balance, curiosity, and kindness, and strive to carry these qualities into both my personal and professional life.
